                                What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is both a science and an art and the origins of reflexology reach back to ancient Egypt.

Throughout the centuries different forms of working the feet to effect good health have been used all over the ancient world and it is believed that this form of healing spread from Egypt via the Roman Empire and now in the present day has come to be known as Reflexology..

Reflexology is an holistic healing technique which, by using massage and applying pressure on relevant parts of the feet, stimulates the body’s own natural healing mechanisms to correct any imbalance in the body,  remove harmful toxins, improve nerve function and blood supply, relieve Pain, relax the mind and de-stress the body, boost the immunity system and increase energy levels.

Reflexology is based on the principle that there are reflex points, on the feet and hands that correspond to each organ, gland and structure in the human body. It works on the Ten Energy Zones within the body which run from head to toe.

What Can Reflexology Do For Me?

Reflexology can play a vital role in providing significant Pain Relief and promoting healing in many conditions. Apart from treating disease, reflexology is an extremely effective therapy in cases of Stress, Tension, Anxiety, Depression and Panic Attacks. It is also beneficial in treating many Sports injuries and can help relieve joint pain and inflammation in Arthritis and most other conditions including  Back ache and Shoulder, Neck and Knee injuries. Reflexology has proved very successful in treating Infertility in both Men and Women and is a great alternative to modern technology in restoring Hormone balance which in most cases can be the underlying cause of many infertility problems.

Reflexology may also be used as a preventative measure against ill health and can be a worthy diagnostic tool.  It is a deeply relaxing therapy and very individual experience for each client.

                                     First Treatment (what to expect)

Rob will talk over any of your health concerns and take a few personal details. He will then begin with  a relaxing foot massage and give a full but gentle first treatment, whilst applying pressure to the relevant reflex points.  After which he will assess his findings, formulate a personal treatment plan especially for you and give you  his opinion in terms of how many treatments he feels you will need and how often.

After the treatment, which usually takes about 1 hour, you should feel relaxed, refreshed and re-vitalised, with a feeling of general well being and in some cases increased energy levels. Some people may also feel some degree of pain relief after a first treatment. Although, no two people are the same, so this will very much depend on  your own healing system and how quickly or slowly it responds to treatment..

          Reflexology's Use By Famous Persons

                                                          Nov 27, 2008 Amy Kreydin

From an Egyptian Queen to a modern Princess, Reflexology is quite popular with male and female celebrities and historical people of importance.

Reflexology is an approximately 5,000 year old healing art that focuses pressure on the feet

or hand to improve organ and body functions in corresponding points. The theory is that the

feet contain mirrored maps of the body and by stimulating reflex points on those maps the

body is encouraged back to balance.

It is a deeply relaxing therapy but is not to be confused with an ordinary foot rub or the standard

foot massage. Reflexology is a science art and its technicians are trained to apply this pressure

therapy using specific techniques and skills.  Historically, foot therapies were used by

Marc Antony and Cleopatra, the Native Americans and many other cultures.

                                                      Reflexology’s Celebrity Followers

In an interview with the Houston Chronicle on November 18, 2008, James Hetfield, lead singer

and guitarist for the band Metallica, cites the use of reflexology and acupuncture as his newest

addictions “instead of the booze and pills it’s the health stuff; we’re addicted to that.”

Early in 2008 the Travel Channel’s television show “No Reservations” found the show’s host,

Anthony Bourdain, visiting Master Soon, a Reflexologist in Singapore for his first Reflexology session.

According to multiple sources Princess Diana received regular Reflexology sessions.

Newsweek magazine is cited as saying “In the end Diana looked less like a royal and more like

a sleek Manhattan socialite. For one thing she was well groomed. She got manicures and

pedicures, had foot reflexology three times a week.”

Dr. Mehmet Oz, author and professor of surgery at Columbia University demonstrated Reflexology

techniques on Oprah Winfrey’s show in May 2007.Regis Philbin, then co-host of

Live with Regis and Kathie Lee is quoted in Laura Norman’s book as saying “Laura Norman's

reflexology spared me from a kidney stone operation and saved my life. What she does is the second best thing in the World!...."
